Salad Bar / Healthy Foods
In the Fall of 2014 a Salad Bar was installed in Lakeland's cafeteria. The Salad Bar provides access to fresh vegetables to students on a daily basis. In addition classes participate in healthy eating discussions. Pictured below are Pre-K students learning about the difference between healthy foods and unhealthy foods. Also in the Fall of 2014 we began a partnership with the University of Maryland Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), to offer nutrition classes to parents and community members. This partnership has expanded our capacity to teach about healthy lifestyles to the greater community, a second course will be offered this Spring.
